Reflecting on a Successful Summer: The 2023 HAF Programme

As we reflect on the Summer 2023 HAF programme, we can't help but beam with pride at the achievements of our children.

This summer, Bridge Wellness Gardens was honoured to receive funding from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) for a special provision of the Holiday Activities with Food (HAF) programme. This support allowed us to create a unique, sensory-stimulating experience for children with complex and profound learning difficulties.

Tailored Activities for Unique Experiences

Through the HAF programme, we curated a range of activities that catered specifically to our group of children. Our goal was to keep their senses engaged and ensure they had a fun, enriching summer they'd remember.

Our art bus became a hub of creativity where children expressed themselves through arts and crafts. The music day filled our gardens with the joyous sounds of various instruments (ukuleles included!), while our forest school offered a fantastic opportunity for outdoor exploration and learning about nature.

A highlight was our circus and outdoor sports day, where children could participate in fun-filled physical activities in a safe and supportive environment. Additionally, gardening sessions allowed them to connect with nature, while cooking classes taught them valuable skills and encouraged independence.

After a day full of activities, we arranged film afternoons. These provided a perfect wind-down period, allowing the children to relax and enjoy some of their favourite films in a comfortable setting.

Nourishing Food Provision

Plenty of nutritious (and yummy!) food is a vital part of the HAF programme, and we were proud to provide healthy meals for our children. From freshly picked vegetables from our garden to delicious home-cooked meals, we ensured that our children received nutritious food throughout their time with us.

Looking Forward to Future Programmes

"As we reflect on the Summer 2023 HAF programme, we can't help but beam with pride at the achievements of our children. Their joy, their laughter, their growth – it's been a truly rewarding journey. We look forward to continuing to create an environment where they can thrive." - Clair Johnson, General Manager of Bridge Wellness Gardens.
